BEYOND THE MISSED SESSIONS

Prepare for the sprint, turn, landing or lift you want back.

It might be a rolled ankle that still feels unreliable, a knee that stops you changing direction, or tendon pain that returns as training builds. The goal is more than feeling better on a quiet day. It is being ready for what your sport asks of you.

Your physio will look at the injury, your current capacity and the training you want to return to. Your plan can then build toward those demands, with progress reviews along the way.

01 · ASSESS

Find your starting point.

Discuss what happened, assess the affected area and identify what is limiting you.

02 · TREAT

Start suitable care.

Consider treatment options together, including hands-on care when appropriate.

03 · BUILD

Develop what you need.

Work on relevant strength, movement, balance and tolerance for training.

04 · RETURN

Review the demands.

Assess progress toward your sport, including the movements and confidence it requires.

YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT

Leave knowing what to do at your next training session.

Bring your goals, your training routine and any previous plans or scan reports. Your physio will assess you, explain the findings and discuss the next step with you.

Suitable treatment may start that day, with your consent. If the findings suggest you need medical assessment or another service, we will explain that too.

PEOPLE BEHIND YOUR PLAN

Choose a physio for the demands you want back.

Football, running and lifting place different demands on you. These current practitioner backgrounds can help you choose where to start. Reception can help if you are unsure.

Already tried rest, exercises or treatment?

What you have already tried is useful information. Bring what you have already tried and tell us what helped, what did not, and what happened when you returned to training.

We will review how your symptoms respond to activity, what your current exercises are preparing you for, and how the plan fits your week. Progress reviews are documented so the next step follows what is changing. If progress stalls, your physio can reassess the plan and discuss further investigation or referral where appropriate.

Before you book.

Do I need to play competitive sport?

No. This care is for people whose injury is getting in the way of training, recreational activity or competitive sport. Tell your physio what you want to get back to so your plan reflects those demands.

Can I keep training while I recover?

That depends on the injury and what you are doing. Your physio will assess you and explain what to pause, modify or build up. Some injuries need medical assessment first. Do not use reduced pain alone as a reason to return to full sport.

Will I receive treatment at the first appointment?

Your first visit includes assessment and a starting plan. Suitable treatment may begin that day, depending on the findings and your consent. Your physio will explain the options, including when further medical assessment or referral is appropriate.

What should I bring?

Wear clothing you can move in and bring any relevant scan reports, referral letters, surgery instructions and previous exercise plans. Tell us about your training routine, upcoming sport and the movements you are struggling with.

Which appointment should I book?

If you are new to Premier, choose your clinic, Physiotherapy, your practitioner and a new-patient appointment in online booking. If you have not visited in six months, follow the Re-Exam guidance on the booking page. Call 03 9481 7794 if you are unsure which appointment suits you.
