New pain, a familiar flare-up or an established rehabilitation plan—start here.

START WITH WHAT YOU WANT BACK

Not every knee needs the same plan.

Perhaps stairs have become uncomfortable. A twist at sport has left you unsure about your knee. Or you want to walk further without planning your day around it.

We start with your symptoms and goals, not a standard exercise sheet. Your physiotherapist checks how your knee moves and handles relevant tasks, considers your injury history and explains what treatment makes sense now.

TREATMENT TECHNIQUES COMMONLY EMPLOYED AT PREMIER

Treat discomfort. Restore movement. Build confidence.

Hands-on treatment

Soft-tissue techniques and joint mobilisation can be included for discomfort and restricted movement. Care is adapted to your presentation, comfort and any injury or surgical restrictions.

Strength and movement work

Progressive exercises and movement retraining connect with walking, stairs, squatting or sport. We choose a manageable starting point and review how your knee responds.

Activity guidance

Get practical advice about work, walking and training. Your plan should make clear what to modify, what to practise and what will guide the next progression.

From a new injury to ACL rehabilitation.

A recent knee problem and rehabilitation after surgery call for different decisions. Tell reception if you have had an ACL injury, surgery or advice from a specialist so they can help you choose a suitable appointment.

For rehabilitation, bring your reports and restrictions. We build the plan around your recovery stage and the demands you need to return to—not a promised return date. If you are seeking help for the first time, you do not need to arrange a scan before asking what to book.

Before you book

What should I book for knee pain?

Physiotherapy is a useful starting point for knee pain, injury and rehabilitation at Premier. Choose your clinic and a new-patient appointment if you are new to Premier. Returning patients should follow the booking prompts. Reception can help if you prefer another practitioner or are unsure.

Will I receive treatment at my first appointment?

Appropriate treatment can begin during the first appointment, with your consent. Your physiotherapist checks your symptoms, explains the options and starts suitable hands-on care or movement work. A significant injury or concerning symptoms may need medical assessment first.

Can you help after an ACL injury or knee surgery?

Yes. Premier provides knee and ACL rehabilitation. Bring your surgical report, specialist instructions and any restrictions. Your physiotherapist uses these alongside your examination and goals to plan progression and communicate with your treating team when needed.

What if my knee pain is related to osteoarthritis?

Treatment can focus on easier everyday movement, suitable strengthening and practical activity guidance. Your clinician will consider your symptoms, health and goals rather than treating a scan finding alone. Medical advice may also be needed as part of your care.

Do I have to stop running or playing sport?

Not everyone needs the same activity changes. Tell us what you do, how your knee responds and what you want to return to. We will discuss suitable activity and progression; return to sport after an injury requires more than waiting for pain to settle.

Looking specifically for patellar tendon care?

For diagnosed or suspected patellar tendon pain that keeps returning with jumping or training, explore our knee tendon pain pathway. It is a specific pathway within knee care, not the explanation for every sore knee.

When to seek medical care: Go to an emergency department after a major knee injury, if your knee is badly swollen or has changed shape, or if you have fever with a red, hot knee. See a doctor if you cannot move or put weight on the knee, it locks or gives way, or pain is severe. Do not wait for routine treatment. Healthdirect knee pain guidance.
