FOR EVERYDAY LIFE AND SPORT

When your hip or groin changes how you move.

You might notice a pull when changing direction, an ache getting out of the car or discomfort that shortens your usual walk. You want help using your leg comfortably—not a long list of possible diagnoses.

We listen to what happened, examine relevant movement and strength, and explain the findings in plain language. First-time treatment seekers and returning patients are both welcome. You do not need a history of unsuccessful care to get started.

TREATMENT TECHNIQUES COMMONLY EMPLOYED AT PREMIER

Hands-on care with a practical movement plan.

Ease discomfort and restriction

Soft-tissue techniques and joint mobilisation can be included for suitable musculoskeletal presentations. Your practitioner explains the proposed treatment and checks your comfort.

Build movement and strength

Mobility, strengthening and movement retraining are matched to the problem. The aim is to work towards the walking, stairs, lifting or sporting movements that matter to you.

Make activity manageable

Discuss changes to walking distance, work tasks or training. Your plan should explain what to practise between appointments and how to judge whether it needs adjusting.

Assessment guides treatment, rather than delaying it. We begin suitable care and recommend follow-up based on your needs and response.

Returning to sport needs a plan for your sport.

Running straight ahead, kicking and turning quickly are different goals. Tell us about your position, training week and the movements you need to feel confident doing again. We will use those details to guide rehabilitation rather than promise a fixed return date.

For everyday hip pain, the goal might instead be a longer walk, easier stairs or getting out of a chair. Treatment should reflect your life—not assume everyone needs an athletic program.

Before you book

What should I book for hip or groin pain?

Physiotherapy is a useful starting point for musculoskeletal hip and groin pain. Tell reception where you feel the pain, how it started and whether you have had medical advice. If you prefer osteopathy or a familiar clinician, reception can help you choose.

Will treatment begin at my first appointment?

Appropriate treatment can begin during your first appointment, with your consent. Your practitioner explains the findings and options, then starts suitable care. If the symptoms suggest a medical problem rather than a musculoskeletal concern, medical assessment takes priority.

Can I keep walking, running or playing sport?

Your plan will reflect how your symptoms respond and the demands of your activity. We will discuss what to modify and how to progress. A comfortable walk and a full-speed change of direction place different demands on your hip and groin.

What if my pain is on the outside of my hip?

Tell us where the pain is and when it occurs. Persistent outer-hip pain may suit our gluteal-tendon pathway, but the location alone does not establish a diagnosis. We can help you choose the right starting point.

Do you treat hernias or unexplained groin swelling?

A suspected hernia, new groin lump or unexplained swelling needs medical assessment. Physiotherapy is not a substitute for that assessment. For sudden or severe symptoms, follow the medical-care guidance on this page rather than booking a routine appointment.

Persistent pain on the outside of your hip?

Explore our outer-hip and gluteal-tendon pathway for pain that repeatedly affects walking, stairs or lying on that side. Bring any scan reports, previous advice and details of your activity to your appointment.

When to seek medical help: Seek prompt medical assessment for sudden or intense hip pain, pain after a fall, inability to move or bear weight, or fever. Call 000 or go to an emergency department for sudden severe testicular pain/swelling, or a painful groin lump with nausea, vomiting or bowel-obstruction symptoms. Ongoing or worsening unexplained groin pain also needs medical review. Hip pain guidance · Groin pain guidance.
