Neck pain after an accident? See a doctor as soon as possible. Call 000 after a serious accident or in an emergency. New weakness, numbness, dizziness, swallowing difficulty or changes in vision after an accident need urgent medical care, not a routine treatment appointment. Healthdirect whiplash guidance.

WHEN ORDINARY MOVEMENT FEELS DIFFERENT

Help with the things your neck pain is interrupting.

Turning your head, settling into bed or concentrating at work can feel harder after a whiplash injury. Once rehabilitation is suitable, the next step is care that helps you build back comfortable movement.

Tell us what you have been advised, what concerns you and what you want to do again. We will work from your current symptoms, not assume you need a fixed course of appointments or a particular technique.

WHAT TREATMENT CAN INVOLVE

Care you understand and feel comfortable with.

Movement and exercise

Suitable mobility and strengthening work, progressed around your symptoms and medical advice. Know what to practise between visits and when to ask for a review.

Selected hands-on care

Soft-tissue treatment or joint mobilisation can be considered alongside exercise. We explain the options, check your comfort and obtain your consent. Neck manipulation is not a requirement.

Everyday activity planning

Practical guidance for work, sleep and a gradual return to your usual routine. Discuss driving restrictions with your doctor if turning or other symptoms affect safe driving.

Your first appointment includes a review of medical advice, assessment of relevant movement and symptoms, and appropriate treatment when suitable. You leave knowing what to do next and how progress will be reviewed.

Before you book

Should I see a doctor before booking whiplash treatment?

Yes. Neck pain following an accident should be checked by a doctor as soon as possible. Once medical assessment has confirmed that rehabilitation is suitable, Premier can help you work on pain, movement and everyday function.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Bring any medical or hospital discharge advice, scan reports, a medicines list and information about the accident. Tell us about other treatment you are receiving and any restrictions your doctor has given you.

Do I have to have neck manipulation?

No. You can discuss what you are comfortable with and decline any technique. Care can include suitable exercise, movement guidance and selected hands-on techniques. Treatment decisions are made with you after assessment.

What if I have a TAC claim?

Premier offers direct-billed, no-gap eligible TAC consultations with all our physiotherapists and osteopaths. Call reception before booking with your claim number and any approval information. TAC determines eligibility and funding; care not covered by TAC may be payable privately.
